For the fourth time, adidas and Parley for the Oceans are organising the charity run "Run for the Oceans" to raise awareness about the pollution of the world's oceans.
"Run for the Oceans" with the Top4Running Team
Plastic waste is a problem that affects the highest peaks of our planet as much as the deepest canyons of the sea. Every year, 350 million tonnes of new plastic are produced and break down into microplastics over time. If no one intervenes, it ends up in rivers and waterways and destroys the ecosystems of our oceans. Masses of plastic end up in our oceans, washing up in the most remote places in the world. Plastic enters the food chain, harms marine animals, destroys habitats and pollutes our climate. There is no spot on earth and no part of our oceans where there is no plastic waste.
If humans and nature are to survive, we must tackle the rising tide of plastic. adidas and Parley have joined forces to fight the plastic pollution that threatens to destroy our oceans.
For every kilometre walked or wheeled between 28 May and 8 June, adidas and Parley will collect plastic waste weighing the equivalent of 10 plastic bottles from beaches and islands - up to 500,000 pounds (lbs) in total.
Collect kilometers with the Top4Running team
Of course we are also at the start with our own virtual team. Register for free in the adidas Running App, join the "Top4Running" team and collect kilometers for the oceans together with us.
